Brisbane City Council have confirmed their plans to expand pokies in Greenslopes at the site of the old Greenslopes Bowls Club. The old Club Greenslopes was an incredible site for live music, arts and culture as well as a vital low-cost space for community fundraisers and events. But Council has selected their preferred tenant for the site, the Coorparoo RSL and Community Club, which will mean the introduction of at least 50 and up to 120 pokies on the site. This is against the wishes of the local community.
Now, it's up to the state government to approve or deny the pokies machines. I’m fighting for a Greenslopes Club that will genuinely benefit our community, not spread gambling harms.
